Nigeria and Cameroon have signed a new border security agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in tackling cross-border crime, terrorism, and illicit trafficking along their shared frontier.
The pact, described by officials as a “strategic security milestone,” is expected to enhance intelligence sharing, joint patrol operations, and coordinated surveillance across vulnerable border communities.
Authorities from both countries say the agreement comes amid ongoing concerns over armed groups and criminal networks exploiting porous border corridors to carry out illegal activities.
Officials also noted that the partnership will focus on improving rapid response mechanisms and boosting trust between security agencies on both sides of the border.
The agreement marks a renewed commitment by Abuja and Yaoundé to deepen regional security collaboration and stabilise communities affected by long-standing cross-border threats.
