Gunmen have killed the District Head of Gwande in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Saf Samuel Alaket, in a deadly ambush along the Sha District axis near the border with the Daffo community.
Local sources say the traditional ruler was attacked while travelling through the area, which has witnessed recurring insecurity in recent times. The assailants reportedly opened fire on his convoy before fleeing the scene.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, while security operatives are said to have begun investigations into the incident.
The killing adds to growing concerns over continued attacks in parts of Plateau State, where rural communities have repeatedly come under violent assaults in recent years.
