The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State to Sunday, November 2, 2025, to allow more eligible voters to collect their cards ahead of the governorship election scheduled for November 8.
The extension was confirmed by Victoria Eta-Messi, the commission’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity in Anambra, in a statement released on Monday.
According to Eta-Messi, the decision was taken after several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time for voter card collection.
She stated, “The INEC has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of PVCs in Anambra from October 29 to November 2. The decision was reached at a meeting of the commission held on October 27, following several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to enable eligible voters to collect their cards.”
Eta-Messi urged all registered voters who have not yet picked up their PVCs to take advantage of the extended period, noting that the exercise would take place at all 326 registration areas (wards) across the state.
She explained that the exercise covers individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, stressing that PVC collection must be done in person, as proxy collection will not be permitted.
“The Commission encourages all registered voters who have not collected their cards to do so within this period. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstance,” she added.
The Anambra governorship election is expected to attract keen political interest, with major parties intensifying preparations for the polls. The electoral body said the extension is part of efforts to ensure that no eligible voter is disenfranchised due to logistical or timing challenges.
