Pastor Funke Adejumo, founder of Agape Christian Ministries, has urged married men not to exhaust themselves trying to meet every expectation of their wives, saying it is impossible for any man to please a woman completely.

Speaking in a sermon that began trending on social media on Sunday, Adejumo said women are naturally drawn to change and improvement, and husbands should not place themselves under unnecessary pressure to achieve perfection in marriage.

“To all married men, don’t ever kill yourself trying to please a woman. I’m a woman speaking to you, and there is nobody who can please a woman to the fullest,” she said.

Adejumo pointed to common beauty practices as examples of women’s desire for change. “God gave us natural nails, we cut them and put on artificial ones. He gave us natural hair, we remove it and wear wigs. If God cannot please us completely, who are you to think you can?” she asked.

She nevertheless encouraged husbands to continue loving and caring for their wives, while warning against self-sacrifice in the pursuit of an unattainable ideal. Adejumo said mutual understanding and realistic expectations are essential for a healthy marriage.
