Nigeria’s National Assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary sessions to March 5, adjusting its legislative calendar amid undisclosed administrative considerations.

The shift, announced in a notice to lawmakers and staff, alters the earlier timetable for the federal parliament’s return from recess. No detailed explanation was immediately provided for the postponement.

The National Assembly, comprising the Senate and the House of Representatives, had been expected to reconvene earlier to resume deliberations on key legislative matters, including pending bills and oversight functions tied to the 2026 fiscal cycle.

Parliamentary aides say the change is procedural, though it comes at a time of heightened public interest in legislative activities, particularly around economic reforms and national security discussions.

Lawmakers are now scheduled to reconvene in Abuja on March 5, when plenary proceedings are expected to resume in full.

The adjustment underscores the flexibility of the Assembly’s calendar, which can be modified subject to internal resolutions and leadership directives.
