Benjamin Sesko’s second-half goal earned Manchester United a crucial 1-0 victory over Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium, extending the Red Devils’ unbeaten start under interim manager Michael Carrick in the Premier League.

United, eager to improve on a disappointing away form with only one win in their previous five league fixtures, started with intent. Within the first four minutes, Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski combined to block a low effort from Amad Diallo off the goal line, showcasing United’s early threat.

Throughout the first half, the visitors maintained the upper hand. Diogo Dalot tested the Everton defence with a powerful long-range strike that narrowly missed the target. Everton gradually gained momentum before the break, with James Garner’s free-kick offering their best chance—Senne Lammens made a confident save to keep the scores level.

The second half began with Everton’s Harrison Armstrong attempting to break the deadlock from 12 yards out, only for Lammens to deny him. United responded swiftly, but Bryan Mbeumo’s promising chance was wasted as he fired over the bar.

Despite Everton’s efforts to capitalize on their recent home struggles, Manchester United’s relentless counter-attacking eventually paid off. In the 71st minute, a pinpoint long ball from Cunha found Mbeumo, who set up Sesko to fire a superb first-time finish into the far corner, securing the lead.

Everton pushed for an equaliser late on, with Michael Keane’s forceful shot from distance tipped over by Lammens. The goalkeeper continued to impressingly deny Tyrique George’s attempt in the closing moments to preserve United’s narrow advantage.

With this hard-fought win, Manchester United gained three vital points, closing the gap to Aston Villa in third place to just three points and maintaining their unbeaten streak under Carrick’s stewardship.
