Three personnel of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have been killed in a deadly attack by suspected terrorists in Kebbi State, according to early reports circulating on social media, including @politicsngr.
The officers were said to have come under heavy fire while on duty along one of the state’s vulnerable routes, where armed groups have increasingly carried out raids, kidnappings, and ambushes in recent months. The attackers reportedly fled the scene before reinforcements arrived.
Local sources indicated that the incident has triggered heightened security operations in the area, with military and police units deployed to pursue the assailants and prevent further attacks. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the fallen officers as families are being notified.
The Nigerian Immigration Service has not issued an official statement at the time of reporting, but security analysts warn that the killing underscores a worrying expansion of terrorist activities into previously calmer parts of the northwest.
Kebbi State, though less conflict-ridden than neighbouring Zamfara and Sokoto, has recently seen a rise in banditry and extremist incursions, placing additional pressure on overstretched security agencies.
Further details are expected as investigations continue and the federal government responds to the latest escalation in violence.
