Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has walked back his previous claims, admitting he has never physically met the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and is unsure of his involvement in the ongoing appointment scandal.
The development follows a firm disclaimer from the Presidency in June, which distanced itself from both the PFIPC and Adeyemi, maintaining that no such organization exists under the current administration. In a statement, Gbajabiamila also clarified that his office had not appointed Adeyemi to any position.
Despite questioning Gbajabiamila’s June 11 disclaimer during a press conference on June 26, Adeyemi’s stance shifted following a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit threat from the Chief of Staff on July 7 over allegations involving murder and bribery.
‘I Am Unsure of Gbajabiamila’s Role’
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), Adeyemi conceded that he had no direct physical interaction with the Chief of Staff before or after his purported appointment.
Instead, he claimed that a late friend, Dolapo Tanimola, facilitated the appointment transaction.
