Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to partnering with the Nigerian Army to enhance national security and regional stability.

Governor Nwifuru spoke during a state banquet hosted in honor of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, in Abakaliki on Tuesday.

Commending the military for its sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity, Nwifuru described the newly established Depot Nigerian Army in Amasiri-Edda as a strategic national asset.

He noted that the facility would not only boost the Army’s operational readiness but also significantly reinforce the security architecture of the South-East region. The Governor assured the military of the state’s continuous support.

In his remarks, Lt. Gen. Shaibu expressed appreciation to the government and people of Ebonyi State for facilitating the establishment of the Depot. He stated that the training institution would enhance manpower development and strengthen the Army’s capacity to respond to emerging security threats.

The Army Chief reiterated the military’s commitment to combining kinetic and non-kinetic operations to tackle insecurity. He emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through intelligence-driven engagements, robust civil-military cooperation, and mutual trust between the military and local communities.

The banquet was attended by senior government officials, traditional rulers, security stakeholders, and members of the military high command.
