Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, fell out with him because he was not offered a ministerial position in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.

Wike made the remarks while addressing journalists on Tuesday, stating that contrary to public speculation, his disagreement with the Oyo governor had nothing to do with personal issues but stemmed from unmet political expectations.

According to the former Rivers State governor, Makinde had allegedly hoped to be nominated into the Federal Executive Council but became resentful when the opportunity did not materialise.

“Seyi Makinde’s problem was that he was not given a ministerial slot,” Wike said. “People have said all sorts of things, but that is the simple truth.”

Wike added that his relationship with Makinde deteriorated shortly after the ministerial list was finalised, insisting that he had no hand in the process and could not have influenced the outcome.

Political observers say the latest revelation further exposes simmering tensions within the ruling party and the broader coalition of political interests that supported President Tinubu’s election.

Makinde has yet to publicly respond to Wike’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
