Nigeria’s electoral landscape is gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, as nine registered political parties have collected access codes from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to begin the nomination process for candidates.
The parties are Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The access codes enable political parties to upload and manage details of their nominated candidates on INEC’s dedicated nomination portal, marking a key administrative step in preparations for the 2027 polls.
The development comes as political parties intensify internal consultations and begin laying the groundwork for what is expected to be a fiercely contested electoral cycle.
