President Bola Tinubu Meets Pope Leo XIV During Inauguration Ceremony

President Bola Tinubu met with the newly installed Bishop of Rome and leader of the Roman Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, on Sunday. The meeting took place in St. Peter’s Square following the inauguration mass, where the Pope greeted several world leaders.

During their brief exchange, President Tinubu engaged in a conversation with Pope Leo XIV before continuing on his way. Other notable leaders who also had the opportunity to shake hands with the Pope included U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

President Tinubu joined fellow dignitaries in Rome for the installation mass, which marked the beginning of Pope Leo XIV’s papacy. In his inaugural homily, the Pope emphasized the importance of protecting nature and advocating for the marginalized, calling on the Church to serve as a transformative force in a divided and often hostile world.

The ceremony was attended by numerous global leaders, highlighting the significance of this historic event in the Vatican.
