Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement and former Governor of Kano State, has received a significant endorsement as a delegation of 24 retired military officers declared their allegiance to the movement.

The officers, all indigenes of Kano State, retired from the Nigerian Armed Forces in January 2025 after serving for 35 years. Their decision to join Kwankwasiyya is viewed as a testament to the movement’s grassroots appeal and a notable enhancement to its political structure ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.

Leading the delegation was Hon. Kabiru Getso Haruna, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board. He described their alignment with Kwankwasiyya as a “calculated and principled” decision that reflects the values and vision of the movement.

“These are disciplined, patriotic Nigerians who have dedicated their lives to serving the country,” Getso stated. “Now, they are committing their experience and integrity to strengthening a movement that represents the hope of the common people.”

During the reception in Kano, Kwankwaso expressed his profound gratitude for the officers’ gesture and acknowledged their past service to the nation. He assured them of a prominent role in advancing the ideals of democracy, inclusion, and development through the Kwankwasiyya platform.

“This is a moment of pride and honor,” Kwankwaso remarked. “These men have served the nation with distinction, and now they are joining us to serve democracy and the people. Their commitment will further strengthen our collective resolve to build a better Nigeria.”

He emphasized that the involvement of respected professionals, such as retired military officers, is crucial for building an inclusive political movement based on merit, discipline, and effective service delivery.

As the build-up to the 2027 elections intensifies, Kwankwaso, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), continues to fortify his base and broaden the national reach of his political movement.
