President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in what sources described as a fresh push to strengthen national security coordination.
The emergency session, convened at the State House, brought together the Chief of Defence Staff, service chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, the National Security Adviser, and heads of key intelligence agencies.
Although details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, Presidency officials said the meeting focused on ongoing counter-terrorism operations, rising security threats in some regions, and efforts to enhance inter-agency intelligence sharing.
The briefing comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to curb banditry, kidnapping, and violent extremism across the country. President Tinubu is expected to issue new directives to the security architecture following the consultations.
More updates are expected after the security chiefs submit their situation reports and recommendations.
