The Nigerian International Airshow has officially opened with remarkable energy, drawing global aviation players, industry leaders, and enthusiasts to what is already shaping up to be a landmark event in Africa’s aerospace calendar.
Held at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, the airshow commenced with an electrifying opening ceremony featuring aerial displays by both military and civilian aircraft. The Nigerian Air Force, alongside international exhibitors, thrilled spectators with precision manoeuvres, fly-pasts, and cutting-edge aviation technology demonstrations.
Government officials, top defence chiefs, diplomats, and major aerospace manufacturers were in attendance, signalling Nigeria’s growing ambition to position itself as a major aviation and aerospace hub on the continent. In his opening remarks, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development highlighted the airshow as a platform to deepen international partnerships, attract investment, and showcase Nigeria’s expanding capabilities in aviation technology, safety, and innovation.
Several global aircraft manufacturers and defence contractors have already unveiled new products, with exhibitions covering unmanned aerial vehicles, advanced surveillance systems, commercial aircraft, and aviation training solutions. Industry experts say this year’s edition is expected to unlock multi-million-dollar deals and strengthen Nigeria’s position in regional air mobility and defence cooperation.
The event will run for several days, featuring conferences, trade exhibitions, technical workshops, and live demonstrations. Organisers say participation has exceeded expectations, with more countries and companies registering compared to previous editions.
As the Nigerian International Airshow takes flight with powerful momentum, stakeholders are optimistic that the event will not only boost the nation’s aviation profile but also inspire the next generation of aerospace innovators.
