Prominent Nigerian activist and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has delivered a blistering criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that any vote cast for the party in the 2027 general elections would amount to endorsing the continued insecurity ravaging the country.
In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Yesufu accused the APC-led administration of failing to protect the lives and property of Nigerians, arguing that years of escalating violence, killings and abductions have exposed what she described as the government’s inability to tackle terrorism and armed criminality.
“Any vote for the APC in 2027 is a vote for terrorists to continue,” she said, urging Nigerians to hold political leaders accountable for the country’s worsening security crisis.
Her remarks come amid renewed public concern over persistent attacks by armed groups across several parts of Nigeria, particularly in the North-East, North-West and North-Central regions, where communities continue to grapple with insurgency, banditry and mass kidnappings.
Yesufu, an outspoken government critic, has repeatedly called on Nigerians to prioritise competence, accountability and good governance over ethnic, religious and partisan loyalties when choosing political leaders.
The comments are expected to further fuel political debate as parties and prospective candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections. While supporters of the activist argue that her remarks reflect widespread public frustration over insecurity, members and loyalists of the APC are likely to reject the claims as politically motivated.
Security remains one of the defining issues expected to shape the 2027 presidential race, with many Nigerians demanding lasting solutions to the country’s prolonged challenges of terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
