A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to rights activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore, while issuing a stern order restraining him from making statements capable of inciting the public against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Justice [insert judge’s surname if needed] delivered the ruling on [insert day if known], setting out clear conditions for Sowore’s temporary release. The court held that although the defendant is entitled to bail, his recent public comments warranted caution to prevent potential unrest.

Under the bail terms, Sowore must refrain from issuing inflammatory remarks—whether on social media, during public appearances, or through published material—that could provoke public disorder or undermine the authority of the President. He is also required to remain within the court’s jurisdiction and make himself available for all scheduled hearings.

Prosecutors had argued that Sowore’s statements in recent weeks posed a threat to public peace, insisting that the restrictions were necessary to prevent further tension. His legal team, however, maintained that Sowore’s comments were within the bounds of free speech and political criticism.

The case has drawn widespread attention, with observers noting that it touches on the delicate balance between national security and constitutional rights.

Further proceedings have been adjourned to a later date.
