The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that Plateau State is now firmly on the path of stability following the defection of Governor Caleb Mutfwang to the ruling party.
Yilwatda made the assertion on Tuesday at a reception organised to formally welcome the Plateau governor into the APC, describing the move as a significant boost to the party’s growing national influence and unifying appeal.
According to him, Governor Mutfwang’s decision to join the APC reflects increasing confidence in the party’s vision and capacity to deliver inclusive and purposeful governance across the country.
“The defection of Governor Mutfwang is not just a political gain for the APC; it is a clear statement that our philosophy of unity, inclusion and responsible leadership is resonating across Nigeria,” Yilwatda said.
He added that the ruling party remains committed to strengthening democratic institutions, fostering national cohesion and promoting development-driven governance at both the federal and state levels.
Yilwatda expressed optimism that Mutfwang’s entry into the APC would further enhance political stability and accelerate socio-economic development in Plateau State, while also consolidating the party’s position ahead of future electoral contests.
Governor Mutfwang’s defection has continued to generate reactions within the political space, with analysts viewing it as part of a broader realignment ahead of the next election cycle.
