An Abuja court has deferred its ruling on the admissibility of statements made by former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele in his ongoing trial over an alleged $4.5 billion fraud.

The court postponed its decision after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence on whether the statements were obtained and admitted in line with the law.

Emefiele is facing multiple charges bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office, allegations he has denied. The trial is expected to continue once the court delivers its ruling on the contested evidence, a decision that could shape the direction of the high-profile case.
