Nigeria’s aviation investigators have recovered the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) from the private aircraft involved in the controversial roadway landing in Asaba, a major breakthrough in the investigation into the unprecedented incident.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) announced that the two critical flight recorders, commonly known as the aircraft’s “black boxes,” have been secured for forensic analysis. The devices are expected to provide crucial evidence on the aircraft’s final moments, including cockpit communications, flight parameters and the sequence of events leading to the unusual landing.

The recovery marks a significant milestone in the bureau’s efforts to establish the cause of the incident, which has sparked widespread public attention and renewed discussions over aviation safety and operational compliance.

Investigators say analysis of the recorders will form a key part of the ongoing inquiry as authorities work to determine what led to the aircraft landing on a roadway in Asaba.
