Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 73,463 kilograms of cannabis and other illicit substances in Edo State, marking one of the agency’s largest anti-drug operations in recent months.
The destruction exercise forms part of the NDLEA’s sustained campaign to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the cultivation, distribution and abuse of narcotic substances across the country.
Officials said the operation underscores the agency’s commitment to eliminating illicit drugs seized during enforcement raids while reinforcing its resolve to protect communities from the devastating impact of drug abuse and organised crime.
The NDLEA has repeatedly vowed to intensify nationwide operations against drug cartels, warning traffickers that no region will serve as a safe haven for the production or movement of illegal narcotics.
