Voting has commenced in the Ekiti State governorship election, with electoral officials giving priority to elderly voters at polling units across the state.
At Polling Unit 001, St. Paul Primary School, Iwaro, in Ekamarun Ward, voting got underway in an orderly atmosphere as senior citizens were allowed to cast their ballots ahead of other voters.
Election officials were seen attending to voters while security personnel maintained a visible presence to ensure a peaceful process. Residents queued patiently as accreditation and voting proceeded without major disruptions in the early hours of the exercise.
The Ekiti governorship election is being closely watched as voters head to the polls to elect the state’s next governor, with authorities urging citizens to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process.
