The African Democratic CongressThe African Democratic Congress has been caught in one, and the North-East family of the party just made its position crystal clear. After gathering in Bauchi for what felt more like a heart-to-heart than a stiff meeting, delegates from all six states in the zone agreed that Nafiu Bala should steer the ship for now as acting national chairman.

During the session, Honorable Shehu Usman, who handles publicity for the zone, read a joint statement everyone had signed off on. In plain words, the group said, We accept Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu’s decision to step aside, and we trust Nafiu Bala, our current deputy national chairman, to guide us while we sort things out. No objections, no hesitation.

They see Bala’s hand on the wheel as the best way to keep the party steady and moving forward.

Setting the record straight

Lately, a man named Auwal Barde has been telling anyone who’ll listen that Bala’s been expelled. The caucus didn’t mince words. They called Barde’s claim wrong, unlawful, and flat-out invalid. According to them, Barde doesn’t even hold a recognized leadership role in Gombe State, so he can’t kick anyone out in the first place.

Usman added a few facts for good measure. Bala’s never faced a disciplinary query, never got a warning letter, never had the chance to defend himself because—well—there was nothing to defend. On 25 August 2025, party faithful in his own ward welcomed him with open arms. No talk of expulsion, only smiles and handshakes. So, the caucus is asking everyone to ignore Barde’s noise and chalk it up to indiscipline.

A word to future partners

While they had everyone’s attention, the North-East team laid down some ground rules for people and groups eager to work with the ADC:

First, sign up properly. That means registering as genuine ADC members in your home wards.
Second, respect the party structures already in place, from the grassroots to the national level.
Third, stick to the Electoral Act and the ADC constitution, so every move stays above board.

They reminded prospects that the ADC wants partners who believe in openness, legality, and a shared dream of lifting the country higher.

Wrapping up, the caucus condemned anyone stirring confusion inside the party. Their call was simple and heartfelt: Let’s stay united, focus on our common goals, and keep building a stronger Nigeria together.
