The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to defending the country’s territorial integrity and protecting its citizens as it commemorated its 163rd anniversary, pledging to intensify military operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.

In a statement marking the milestone, the Army said it remains resolute in its constitutional mandate to safeguard Nigeria’s sovereignty and ensure the safety of lives and property across the country.

The military also pledged to sustain ongoing offensives against armed groups, stressing that it would continue working with other security agencies and stakeholders to restore peace and stability in affected communities.

The anniversary comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with multiple security challenges, including insurgency in the northeast, widespread banditry in the northwest and escalating cases of kidnapping for ransom in several parts of the country.
