Armed bandits have imposed a ₦6 million levy on residents of Falfala, Dgolo and Dbebke villages in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, threatening to prevent farmers from accessing their farmlands unless the payment is made.

According to community sources, the armed groups warned that farming activities would be halted if the levy is not paid, raising fresh fears over the safety of rural communities during the planting season.

Traditional and community leaders have reportedly appealed to the Kebbi State Government and security agencies to intervene urgently, warning that the threat could worsen insecurity and deprive hundreds of families of their primary source of livelihood.

The development underscores the growing influence of armed groups across parts of northwestern Nigeria, where rural communities increasingly face extortion, violence and restrictions on farming activities. Analysts warn that such attacks could further disrupt agricultural production, exacerbate food insecurity and deepen the humanitarian challenges facing affected communities.
