Nigeria’s newly appointed Minister of Power, Tegbe, has pledged bold reforms aimed at stabilising the country’s troubled electricity sector, promising an end to the repeated national grid collapses that have plagued homes and businesses for years.
Speaking shortly after assuming office, the minister assured Nigerians that his administration would pursue “decisive and bold reforms” designed to strengthen power generation, transmission and distribution across the country.
“No more national grid collapse,” he declared, signalling a tougher stance on long-standing inefficiencies within the sector.
Nigeria has faced recurring nationwide blackouts linked to fragile infrastructure, weak transmission systems and persistent operational failures, issues that have continued to undermine economic productivity and public confidence.
Analysts say the minister’s remarks set high expectations for an administration that will be under pressure to deliver measurable improvements in electricity supply amid growing public frustration over unreliable power.
