Nigeria has deployed troops to the Benin Republic as part of a broader regional security operation aimed at strengthening cross-border stability and combating rising threats in West Africa.

Military sources said the deployment forms part of coordinated efforts between neighbouring countries to tackle armed groups, banditry and other transnational security challenges threatening the region.

The operation underscores Nigeria’s growing role in regional security cooperation, amid increasing concerns over instability and militant activities across parts of West Africa and the Sahel.

While details of the troop movement and operational scope remain limited, officials say the mission is designed to enhance joint security coordination and reinforce peacekeeping efforts between both countries.

The development comes as West African nations continue to intensify military collaboration to prevent the spread of insecurity across borders.
