Pastor Chris Okafor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries knelt before his congregation on Sunday and apologised to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, saying he was “sorry to anyone I have offended.”

In a livestream shared by DavePlayBlogger and reviewed by SaharaReporters on X, Okafor admitted “mistakes have been made in the past” and asked to make amends. “We’re not joining issues,” he said. “Everything that was said was never true; many are lies. But be it. I say I am sorry to everyone I have offended. To Doris Ogala, I also say sorry.”

The apology came after a week in which Ogala was arrested, bailed, rearrested in Abuja, then flown back to Lagos under officers from the Zone 2 Command. SaharaReporters earlier reported that when Ogala’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, tried to film the rearrest, his phone was seized and he was allegedly assaulted.

According to sources, activist Jamiu Towolawi (also known as Jharmo) of the Take It Back Movement intervened, leading to Ogala’s release in Lagos. SaharaReporters said Okafor later met Ogala inside the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, where the pastor “fell flat on his knees and begged her” during a closed-door meeting that lasted nearly an hour. Officers released Ogala on health grounds, with Towolawi standing as surety.

Trouble started when Ogala, through her lawyers at Synergy Law Partners, accused Okafor of breaking a promise to marry her. She is seeking ₦1 billion for alleged emotional damage, reputational harm, and financial loss, claiming the relationship began in 2017 and involved family introductions and transfers totalling ₦45 million. None of these claims have been heard in court.

Addressing the livestream audience, Okafor said he would compensate anyone he had wronged but insisted “many of the accusations were false.” Police and the lawyers for both parties have yet to issue detailed statements.

This story is developing. SaharaReporters is seeking further comment from Pastor Okafor, Ogala’s legal team, and the police.
