Prominent lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has ignited fresh political debate after delivering a stinging criticism of those who publicly defend Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking on the country’s political climate, Farotimi argued that defending the president’s leadership is intellectually indefensible, saying:
“You cannot support and defend Tinubu, no matter how intelligent you are, without sounding stupid.”
The remark has since generated widespread reactions across social media and political circles, with supporters and critics of the administration sharply divided over the outspoken lawyer’s comments.
While supporters of President Tinubu have condemned the statement as insulting and inflammatory, others have described it as a reflection of growing public frustration over the government’s performance.
Farotimi, known for his outspoken criticism of Nigeria’s political establishment, has repeatedly challenged the policies and leadership of the current administration.
