A former aide to the ex-governor of Zamfara State has made explosive allegations in the long-running disappearance case of Abubakar Idris Dadiyata, claiming he witnessed a police officer kill the government critic.
The former aide, identified as Muhammad Musa, alleged that a police officer named Hussaini Gimba was responsible for Dadiyata’s death — a claim that, if verified, could mark a major breakthrough in one of Nigeria’s most controversial unresolved cases.
Dadiyata, a vocal social commentator and university lecturer, disappeared in 2019 under mysterious circumstances, sparking years of public outrage, speculation and repeated demands for accountability.
The latest allegation has intensified calls for action from the Nigeria Police Force, with pressure mounting on Kayode Egbetokun to launch what activists describe as a transparent and independent investigation.
Rights advocates say the case has become a symbol of unresolved disappearances and the broader struggle for justice and accountability in Nigeria.
