Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will begin on 9 October 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, announced the date during the commission’s readiness assessment and stakeholder engagement activities in Kaduna on Monday.
The commission said the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise produced more than 10.7 million new voter registrations across the country. (Legit.ng – Nigeria news.)
The development marks a major step in preparations for the 2027 elections, with millions of newly registered voters expected to obtain their voter cards ahead of the polls.
