Nigeria’s Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has terminated the appointment of another aide over alleged activities considered contrary to the interests of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The latest aide, Rashida Adamu, popularly known as Rashida Mai Sa’a, was removed from her position as Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President. The decision was announced in a statement issued by Barau’s media and public relations aide, Shitu Madaki Kunchi.
According to the statement, Ms Adamu’s removal was linked to conduct regarded as inconsistent with the APC’s interests and the directives of the Deputy Senate President. However, details of the specific action or statement that triggered her dismissal were not immediately made public in the reports reviewed. (Daily Trust)
The development comes barely days after Mr Barau dismissed another aide, Umar Alhassan, popularly known as King Indara, over social media posts targeting Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Mr Alhassan had published posts carrying the phrase “Abba Must Go”. Barau’s office described the posts as disrespectful and contrary to the principles of the APC, leading to the termination of his appointment with effect from 18 September. (Premium Times Nigeria)
The latest dismissal has therefore brought the number of aides relieved by Senator Barau over alleged anti-party-related conduct to two within a short period, highlighting the growing sensitivity around party loyalty and political messaging ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
Senator Barau represents Kano North in the Senate and currently serves as Deputy President of the Senate. His office has recently intensified political mobilisation for the APC in Kano North ahead of the 2027 elections. (Punch Newspapers)
