The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially inaugurated its campaign organisation for the forthcoming area council elections in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), signalling the start of an aggressive push to secure sweeping victories across all six councils.

At a well-attended ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, party leaders said the newly constituted campaign structure would serve as the engine room for grassroots mobilisation, voter engagement and coordinated outreach ahead of the polls.

Speaking at the event, APC chieftains described the council elections as critical to strengthening governance at the local level and consolidating the party’s presence in the nation’s capital. They urged members to close ranks and work collectively to deliver a decisive mandate.

The campaign organisation, comprising party stalwarts, youth leaders and women representatives, has been tasked with driving door-to-door canvassing, coordinating ward activities and ensuring the party’s message reaches every community across the FCT’s six area councils.

Party officials expressed confidence that the APC’s record in infrastructure development and social interventions would resonate with voters, pledging people-centred policies and improved service delivery if elected.

They also called on supporters to conduct a peaceful, issue-based campaign, stressing the importance of unity and discipline as the race gathers momentum.

With the formal launch of its campaign machinery, the APC has effectively fired the starting gun on the FCT area council contest, setting the stage for what is expected to be a tightly fought political battle in the weeks ahead.
