Abuja, Nigeria — Nigeria’s Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has pledged to mobilise Igbo voters across the Abuja in support of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as political activities intensify ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement with members of the Igbo community in Abuja, Kalu said the party was committed to inclusive governance and national unity, adding that the Igbo bloc remains a decisive force in shaping electoral outcomes in the capital.

He urged residents of South-East extraction living in the FCT to rally behind the APC, stressing that the party offers a platform for integration, development and equitable representation.

“The Igbo people are not visitors in Abuja — they are stakeholders,” Kalu said. “Your votes matter, your voices matter, and together we can secure a stronger future under the APC.”

The Deputy Speaker highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects and economic reforms spearheaded by the party, arguing that continuity in leadership would guarantee stability and accelerated development in the FCT.

Community leaders present at the meeting welcomed the outreach, describing it as a positive step towards deeper political inclusion, while pledging to engage their members on active participation in the forthcoming poll.

The move comes as major political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation across Abuja, with analysts predicting a closely contested race driven largely by voter turnout among key demographic groups.
