APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has paid a courtesy visit to former Kano South senator, Kabiru Gaya, in a move that has fuelled speculation over the veteran politician’s possible return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gaya, a founding member of the APC, is currently a member of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), having left the ruling party.
The meeting, held on Saturday, comes amid growing political realignments ahead of future electoral contests, with observers closely watching the movements of key political figures across party lines.
In a statement issued after the visit, Prof. Yilwatda described the engagement as cordial and centred on fostering unity and stability in Kano State.
“We agreed that leaders have a responsibility to promote dialogue and peaceful coexistence,” the APC national chairman said.
He stressed that political differences should not undermine efforts to promote peace and national development.
“Democracy is strengthened not by division, but by our collective resolve to put the interests of the people above political differences,” he added.
Although neither Yilwatda nor Gaya confirmed any discussions about a possible return to the APC, the high-profile meeting has intensified speculation over the former senator’s political future.
The APC has recently stepped up consultations with influential political figures across the country as it seeks to consolidate its support base and strengthen internal cohesion.
