The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, has unveiled an ambitious five-year strategic plan aimed at transforming the examination body’s operations through technology-driven reforms and improved service delivery.
Professor Aina, a 40-year-old computer engineering scholar, formally assumed office on Monday, succeeding Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose decade-long tenure as JAMB registrar came to an end on Friday after serving two terms.
Presenting his vision for the board, Aina outlined a development agenda that will run until 2031, with a strong emphasis on digital innovation, operational efficiency, transparency and institutional excellence.
At the heart of the plan are seven key technology-driven reform priorities designed to modernise JAMB’s processes, strengthen examination integrity, improve candidates’ experience and enhance the board’s overall performance in line with global best practices.
The new registrar said the reforms would leverage emerging technologies to streamline admissions processes, improve service delivery and position JAMB as a more responsive and future-ready institution.
Aina’s appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the examination body following the widely acknowledged tenure of his predecessor, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who was credited with introducing sweeping reforms that enhanced transparency, boosted revenue generation and restored public confidence in JAMB.
Observers say the successful implementation of Aina’s strategic roadmap could further accelerate the board’s digital transformation and reinforce its role as Nigeria’s foremost tertiary admissions agency.
