Minna, Nigeria — Former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have held a closed-door meeting with former military ruler General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) at his Uphill Residence in Minna, Niger State.
Atiku arrived in the state capital at about 1:30pm local time on Monday and proceeded directly from the airport to Babangida’s residence. Governor Makinde joined the meeting shortly after, arriving around 2:10pm, following which discussions commenced behind closed doors.
While details of the talks were not immediately disclosed, the high-profile nature of the meeting has sparked political interest, coming amid growing consultations among key opposition figures ahead of Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
Neither Atiku nor Makinde has issued an official statement on the purpose of the visit, and Babangida’s camp has also remained silent.
The meeting adds to a series of strategic engagements involving senior political actors, as alignments and alliances continue to take shape across the country.
