Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, has called for Nigerians to undergo military training, saying such experience would help citizens understand the demands of endurance, discipline and sacrifice.
Mr Musa said military-style training would expose Nigerians to the realities of going without food, working for prolonged periods without sleep and enduring difficult conditions.
“Every Nigerian should undergo military training to understand what it means to stay hungry, work days without sleep and learn what endurance means,” he said.
The minister’s comments highlight the physical and mental demands associated with military service, where personnel are routinely trained to operate under difficult and stressful conditions.
His remarks come as Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges that have placed significant demands on the country’s armed forces.
The Defence Ministry has continued to emphasise the importance of discipline, resilience and cooperation between security agencies and civilians in addressing the country’s security concerns.
