Senate President Godswill Akpabio has dismissed concerns over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s continued absence from Nigeria, insisting that the country is not facing a leadership vacuum.
Mr Akpabio said the president remained firmly in charge of the affairs of government despite being outside the country.
He said there was no basis for suggestions that the president’s absence had created uncertainty over who was directing the affairs of the Nigerian government.
According to the Senate president, President Tinubu remained in communication with officials and continued to exercise his constitutional responsibilities.
His comments come amid growing public attention over the president’s prolonged absence from the country and questions about the impact it could have on governance.
Mr Akpabio maintained that the administration remained fully functional and that the president continued to provide direction on matters of national importance.
The presidency has also previously sought to reassure Nigerians that the president remains in control of government business while away from the country.
