Russia has issued a stark warning to the United States and Israel against any attack on Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, cautioning that such a move could trigger “irreversible” and potentially catastrophic consequences.

The Kremlin said strikes near the Russian-built facility are “extremely dangerous”, stressing that targeting nuclear infrastructure risks a wider regional disaster and must be avoided at all costs.

Moscow, which designed, constructed and continues to maintain the Bushehr plant in partnership with Tehran, said it has directly communicated its concerns to Washington. Russian officials have repeatedly condemned recent strikes in the vicinity of the facility, warning they pose serious radiological risks.

The warning comes amid escalating conflict involving US and Israeli military actions in Iran, with Russia urging all sides to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic solutions to prevent further deterioration.

Analysts say any direct hit on the Bushehr facility could have far-reaching environmental and geopolitical consequences, given its operational status and the presence of Russian personnel on site.
