President Bola Tinubu has returned from his official trip, as political tensions continue to simmer in Rivers State. In a recent statement, political analyst BKO highlighted the role of Deputy Governor-elect Siminalayi Fubara, who has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in mediating ongoing conflicts in the state.
“I trust him to be able to call Wike and appeal to him that, in the interest of peace, this impeachment notice should be withdrawn,” BKO said, referring to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
The statement underscores expectations that Fubara, now aligned with the APC, will leverage his political position to foster dialogue and prevent further escalation of hostilities surrounding the impeachment notice currently circulating in Rivers State.
Political observers say the development comes at a delicate time, as the state navigates partisan tensions and prepares for upcoming governance transitions. Tinubu’s return adds weight to calls for peaceful resolution and strategic negotiation among key political actors.
No official response has yet been made by Governor Wike regarding the appeal, leaving the situation in Rivers closely watched by both national and regional political stakeholders.
