Rivers State Governor Siminalaye Wike Fubara has firmly dismissed an impeachment notice served against him, insisting that he remains the duly elected governor of the oil-rich state.

In a statement on Wednesday, Fubara reacted to the notice, which had been circulated by some members of the state House of Assembly, describing it as politically motivated and lacking legal basis.

“I remain Governor of Rivers State,” Fubara declared, reaffirming his commitment to serving the people of the state and upholding the mandate given to him at the polls.

The governor accused his political opponents of attempting to destabilise the state government through procedural manoeuvres, warning that such actions would not derail his administration’s ongoing development agenda.

Analysts say the dispute highlights continuing tensions within Rivers State politics, where rival factions have frequently clashed over control and influence.

Fubara’s office has assured citizens that the government will continue to function normally, while promising legal action against any unlawful attempts to remove him from office.

The state House of Assembly has yet to provide a detailed public response to the governor’s rebuttal.
