Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on politicians aligned with Governor Siminalayi Fubara to return to his political fold, declaring that the contest for political dominance in the state and at the national level has effectively been settled.
Addressing supporters, Wike said he had forgiven members of the opposing camp and urged them to “come back home sincerely,” warning that remaining outside his political coalition could result in prolonged political isolation.
“If you’re talking about the governorship election in Rivers State, it’s gone. If you’re talking about the presidential election, it’s gone,” Wike said. “I’m using this platform to say that I’ve forgiven everybody. Come back home sincerely. Because eight years out of politics is something else.”
The former governor expressed confidence in the strength of what he described as the “Rainbow Coalition,” predicting victory in future elections and sustained political influence beyond the next electoral cycle.
“This Rainbow Coalition will not only win next year, we’ll be here for another eight years,” he stated. “If you’re thinking that any miracle will happen to upturn us, it’s a lie. We are very much alert anytime, any day.”
Wike’s remarks are widely seen as a direct appeal to politicians loyal to Governor Fubara amid the lingering political tensions within Rivers State.
