Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has called on schools nationwide to strengthen security measures following the recent abductions of pupils in Oyo and Borno states, warning that the safety of children must remain a national priority.
The military said educational institutions should review and reinforce existing security protocols to prevent further attacks, stressing that schools must remain safe spaces for learning.
“No child should have to learn in fear,” the DHQ said, as concerns grow over the resurgence of school-related kidnappings in parts of the country.
The appeal comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to curb threats targeting students and educational facilities across Nigeria.
