Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has suggested that political power in Rivers State is now firmly anchored within what he described as the “Rainbow Coalition”, declaring that key elective positions in the state are effectively beyond the reach of those outside the alliance.

“If you’re not in the Rainbow Coalition, you can’t secure any elective position in Rivers State — from governor to senator, member of the House of Representatives, House of Assembly, or even local government chairman,” Wike said while addressing supporters.

The former Rivers State governor also expressed gratitude to former governorship candidate Tonye Cole for stepping aside in the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial contest and aligning with his political camp.

“Let me also thank Tonye Cole. Though he is not here, I have spoken with our leader, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, and I hope he will attend our next leadership meeting,” Wike said.

The remarks underscore Wike’s continuing influence over Rivers State politics and highlight ongoing realignments among key political actors ahead of future electoral contests.
