At the convention of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a dramatic moment unfolded when Senator Natasha publicly praised Nyesom Wike as the party’s “National Leader”, signalling fresh momentum for the Wike-aligned faction.
While moving a motion to ratify the congress organised by the Wike-led bloc, the senator addressed delegates, saying the faction deserved “special recognition” for steering the party’s internal process.
The endorsement, delivered on the convention floor, underscored deepening divisions within the PDP and highlighted Wike’s growing influence among key party figures ahead of upcoming political contests.
Observers say the statement is likely to intensify debate over leadership and control within Nigeria’s main opposition party, as rival camps continue to vie for legitimacy and direction.
