Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria’s growing youthful population is becoming increasingly impatient with poor leadership and excuses, warning politicians that failure to deliver could cost them power at the ballot box.

Speaking on the rising expectations among young Nigerians, Tinubu described the country’s youth as “dynamic” and “restless”, stressing that leaders must prepare them for the future rather than offer repeated justifications for underperformance.

“We have a very dynamic youthful population, restless and not ready to accept any excuses. As a politician, if I don’t prepare them for that, they will vote me out,” the president said.

The remarks come amid mounting economic pressure, unemployment concerns and growing public scrutiny over governance in Nigeria, where young people make up a significant share of the population and voter base.

Tinubu’s comments also reflect increasing political awareness among Nigerian youths, many of whom have become more vocal in demanding accountability, economic opportunities and transparent leadership.
