Governor Uba Sani has dismissed claims of a strong opposition presence in Ekiti, insisting that there was little or no evidence of active campaigning by rival candidates ahead of the election.
Speaking on the political atmosphere in the state, Sani argued that the opposition failed to establish a visible grassroots presence, saying even visitors to Ekiti would have noticed the absence of campaign activities.
“You’ll agree with me that you have been in Ekiti yourself for many days. There are no signs that any opposition candidate was actually campaigning,” he said.
The governor’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over the level of opposition participation and competitiveness in the state’s political landscape, with his comments suggesting that the ruling camp faced little organised challenge on the ground.
