Barely a week after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, announced former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate, signs of internal discontent have begun to surface within the party.

Multiple party sources indicate that tensions are growing between chieftains aligned with Atiku and supporters of Amaechi over the vice-presidential nomination, raising fresh concerns about unity ahead of the election.

According to the sources, some influential figures within Atiku’s camp are pushing for Amaechi’s replacement, arguing that the choice does not reflect the party’s broader political interests. The development has reportedly sparked disagreements with Amaechi’s loyalists, who insist the nomination should remain unchanged.

The emerging dispute threatens to overshadow the party’s efforts to present a united front and could pose an early test of its internal cohesion as it prepares for the presidential race.

Neither Atiku Abubakar nor Rotimi Amaechi has publicly responded to the reported disagreement at the time of filing this report.
