The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said Nigerians are getting real value for money from President Bola Tinubu’s investments in road infrastructure, despite criticism from detractors.
Speaking after inspecting projects in the North Central Zone on Saturday, Umahi stressed that the new roads and bridges are being built with top-quality materials to last up to 100 years.
He, however, expressed concern over the soaring cost of construction materials such as cement and iron rods, noting that the prices do not reflect ongoing economic reforms.
Umahi also highlighted the poor state of the Abuja–Lokoja highway, describing it as “frightening,” but said Tinubu has prioritised road development as key to boosting GDP and driving growth across sectors.
He assured Nigerians that the administration’s reforms and strategic investments will deliver lasting results.
